Draft Statutes Union of GBHS Mbengwi Alumni
Designed for batches and chapters to merge within a common umbrella.
PREAMBLE
We, the alumni of GBHS Mbengwi, in order to foster a sense of community and fraternity among our members, to promote the welfare of our alma mater, and to contribute to the advancement of education in Cameroon, do hereby adopt these statutes for the governance of our Alumni Union.
ARTICLE I
NAME
The name of this union shall be the GBHS Mbengwi Alumni Union (GBHSMAU).
ARTICLE II
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the GBHSMAU shall be to:
- Foster a sense of community and fraternity among alumni of GBHS Mbengwi.
- Promote the welfare of GBHS Mbengwi.
- Contribute to the advancement of education in Cameroon.
- Provide networking opportunities for alumni.
- Assist current students of GBHS Mbengwi.
- Promote the school’s culture and traditions.
ARTICLE III
MEMBERSHIP
Membership in the GBHSMAU shall be open to all former students of GBHS Mbengwi. Direct membership is through batches and members of batches in a particular locality could form a chapter.

ARTICLE IV
TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP
There shall be two types of membership in the GBHSMAU:
- Batch Member: A member of a specific batch of graduates of GBHS Mbengwi.
- Chapter Member: A member of a chapter of the GBHSMAU in a particular locality.
ARTICLE V
RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES OF MEMBERS
All members of the GBHSMAU shall have the right to:
- Attend all meetings of the GBHSMAU.
- Vote on all matters brought before the GBHSMAU.
- Hold office in the GBHSMAU.
- Receive information about the activities of the GBHSMAU.
ARTICLE VI
DUTIES AND OBLIGATIONS OF MEMBERS
All members of the GBHSMAU shall have the duty to:
- Uphold the values and mission of the GBHSMAU.
- Pay annual membership dues.
- Participate in the activities of the GBHSMAU.
- Refrain from any conduct that is harmful to the reputation of the GBHSMAU.
ARTICLE VII
BATCHES
A batch shall consist of all former students of a particular class of GBHS Mbengwi who enrolled, graduated or completed their studies at the school as well as those who joined or left along the way.
ARTICLE VIII
CHAPTERS
A chapter shall consist of members of the GBHSMAU who reside in a particular locality.
ARTICLE IX
GOVERNANCE
The GBHSMAU shall be governed by a National Executive Committee (NEC) and a General Assembly.
ARTICLE X
NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE (NEC)
The NEC shall consist of the following members:
- President
- Vice President
- Secretary General
- Treasurer
- Public Relations Officer
- Legal Adviser (Keeper of the seals)
- Advisers
- Head of Committees
- Others
The NEC shall be responsible for the overall management of the GBHSMAU.
ARTICLE XI
GENERAL ASSEMBLY
The General Assembly shall consist of all members of the GBHSMAU from batches and chapters. The General Assembly shall meet annually to:
- Receive reports from the NEC.
- Elect members of the NEC.
- Approve the budget of the GBHSMAU.
- Discuss and approve amendments to the bylaws.
ARTICLE XII
AMENDMENTS
Bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the General Assembly.
ARTICLE XIII
DISSOLUTION
The GBHSMAU may be dissolved by a two-thirds vote of the General Assembly.
ARTICLE XIV
MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS
These bylaws shall take effect immediately upon their adoption by the General Assembly.
